Elvin Bishop, a Rock & Roll and Blues Hall of Famer, has been blazing his own musical trail since 1965 when he first joined the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Known for his raw blues guitar, timeless hits like “Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” and decades of delivering feel-good, countrified blues, Bishop has always captivated fans with his spirited guitar playing and witty songwriting. Rolling Stone calls him “a legendary guitarist” with “impeccable and spirited” playing, describing him as “a distinguished American player.”
In late 2015, Bishop formed The Big Fun Trio, with Bob Welsh on piano and guitar, and Willy Jordan on cajón and vocals. After just a few live shows, their instantly engaging music and undeniable chemistry took the blues world by storm. Their 2017 self-titled album earned immediate acclaim, with DownBeat praising Bishop’s “verbal hijinks” and “outstanding guitar work.” The album earned a Grammy nomination, along with Blues Music Awards for Album of the Year and Song of the Year (for the title track) from The Blues Foundation.
