Thrasher Opera House

Green Lake, Wisconsin is a small town about mid way between Madison and Green Bay. It’s the home to the non-profit Thrasher Opera House, which was built in 1910. The building was an entertainment venue for many years and later pressed into service for other uses. By 1994, it had languished and was in great decline when a renovation was undertaken that restored it to its original look. Example current artists:

  • Buffalo Nichols
  • Willy Porter
  • BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet
  • JigJam
  • Paul Thorn
  • The Barefoot Movement
  • Damn Tall Buildings
  • Dan Rodriguez
  • The Small Glories
  • Yarn
  • Iris DeMent
  • Kyshona
  • Session American
  • The Arcadian Wild
Thrasher Opera House is in 2024 Troubadour Concert Rooms – a list of U.S. concert presenters who include in their schedules promising artists on their way up.

“We have attended numerous shows at the Thrasher, and we are so happy to have such a wonderful place to see and hear live music in Green Lake.  Often times, when we have friends at our lake home, they arrange their visits based on the shows at the Thrasher.  The acoustics are excellent and the small intimate room is fantastic, not a bad seat in the house.

Our favorite show was Robben Ford, although with seeing Chris Hillman, Roger McQuinn, Jimmy Webb and Peter Rowan at the Thrasher, among many other performances, it is difficult to state which is our favorite show.

We are so delighted with the Thrasher and the wonderful music and entertainment they provide and what an amazing asset it is to the Green Lake Community.

Thanks for all that you do.” – Tom and Beth Kneesel 11.10.23
