Paul Thorn performs WI exclusive at Thrasher
Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Paul Thorn has been pleasing crowds for years with his muscular brand of roots music – bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern. Thorn, a favorite guest on the "Bob and Tom" syndicated radio show, as well as "Dan Aykroyd’s House of Blues Radio Hour," will be performing at the historic Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Born in Tupelo, Mississippi and raised among the same spirits (and some of the actual people) who nurtured a young Elvis, generations before, Thorn has rambled down back roads, jumped out of airplanes, worked for years in a furniture factory, and battled four-time world champion boxer Roberto Durán on national television. Today, according to a review by the Americana Music Times, he is considered “One of the best Americana songwriters and touring performers. A walking personification of what is American music.”
Thorn has opened for Bonnie Raitt, Mark Knopfler, and John Prine, among many other headliners...and made some of the most emotionally restless, yet fully accessible music of our time. "Paul is one of my favorite artists!" –Bonnie Raitt
The first thing you notice is The Voice, unique and distinctive, the voice of a man who has walked a long, hot span over dusty Mississippi country roads. And after repeated listens, you realize that his is not merely the voice of a poet but also of a merciful prophet, a summation not unjustified. Those who follow the career of Paul Thorn believe he is both.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Accommodations provided by the Heidel House Resort and Spa.
