Thrasher and Knowledge Emporium help promote “Our Town” art.

Thrasher Opera House will host an open house during Green Lake’s Fine Arts Fair Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13.  From 10 – 4 on Saturday, and 10 -3 on Sunday, you’re invited to stop by the opera house to enjoy music by Colette Ringmeier, local vocalist and acoustic  guitarist; an exhibit of favorite art pieces owned or created by community members; a video featuring past and future Thrasher performers; and tours of this historic landmark.  The box office will be open for ticket sales to upcoming events and those who register their e-mails will be entered in a drawing for a free pair of tickets to a future event.  Refreshments will be available for a modest charge.

Roby Irvin, executive director, is very excited about the opportunity to be part of Green Lake’s annual fine arts fair.  “Our open house will add a dimension to this wonderful event.  An important part of Thrasher’s mission is to promote the arts in all their many forms and this open house is a great way to continue meeting those goals of our mission statement.  The open house will add to the reasons to visit Green Lake and attend the fine arts fair!”

In keeping with the theme of the weekend, Knowledge Emporium, located next to Thrasher Opera House, will be displaying the chalk art creations of the young Rembrandts and Picassos of the future.

Owner, Sharon Wolter, invites anyone to come join the fun by bringing their imagination and creativity - and she’ll supply the rest.  A virtual rainbow of colored chalk will be available to help inspire budding artists as they let thoughts flow from brain to paper to create their special masterpieces.

“We hope everyone will come and share in the fun of watching the young artists create their masterpieces, all of which will be on display both days during the Art Fair,” said Wolter.
