From patriotic to Dixieland to swing - Dallas Brass brings it on for Memorial Day weekend!

Thrasher Opera House is thrilled to be bringing Dallas Brass to the stage of the historic Thrasher Opera House, in beautiful downtown Green Lake, on May 28, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. – just in time for the Memorial Day weekend celebrations!  Thanks to special support from Drs. John & Kay Zwiacher, Green Lake State Bank, and the Heidel House, this renowned brass band will be performing a wide variety of musical styles with one of the highlights being a medley of patriotic tunes.  Approximately thirty local Green Lake High School students will also be joining Dallas Brass on stage that evening to perform a few select songs.  Band Director, Jon Roti Roti will be busy practicing with the students to prepare them for what will prove to be a very moving evening performance.

The band, founded by Michael Levine in 1983, has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges.  The Dallas Brass repertoire includes patriotic, classical masterpieces, Dixieland, Broadway, Hollywood and swing music.

According to Mr. Levine, "a Dallas Brass concert is intended for the entire family.  Our ideal audience has a range in ages from 5 to 95.  Our goal is to entertain and enrich by playing great music, while showing our audience how much we enjoy what we do."

“This premiere brass band will delight audiences, young and old alike, with many familiar favorites, as well as a few funky and creative tunes such as the ‘Tuba Rap’.  Martha and I saw them perform the Tuba Rap song, as well as many patriotic songs, when they showcased at a recent Midwest Arts Conference, and I have to tell you, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house”, says Roby Irvin, Executive Director of Thrasher.

Please join us in welcoming Dallas Brass and the Green Lake Jr/Sr High School students on Saturday, May 28, Memorial Day weekend, at 8:00 p.m. for an evening of great music.  Tickets are $20 adults and $17 students and available at the Thrasher office, Knowledge Emporium, & Green Lake State Bank (Green Lake); Ripon Drug & Pick ’n Save (Ripon); Twister (Princeton) or call 920-294-4279.  Online ticket sales and artist information available at
