Jim Messina, an undisputed expert in creating hit music, boasts a musical legacy spanning five decades, including involvement in three supergroups and a successful solo career with numerous producing and engineering credits.
From his role as the producer/audio engineer for Buffalo Springfield, he transitioned to becoming the bass player when the band disbanded in 1968. Alongside bandmate Richie Furay, Messina formed Poco, defining the Country Rock genre with Jim on lead guitar. After three successful albums, he returned to producing music independently with Columbia Records. In 1970, he collaborated with Kenny Loggins, leading to the accidental duo Loggins & Messina, which, over seven years, released eight hit albums and numerous chart-topping songs and sold over 16 million albums.
After solo acoustic tours, Jim formed a band with acclaimed musicians, releasing “In the Groove,” featuring hits from his previous bands and solo works. Currently touring the country with sold-out shows, Messina enjoys discovering his past, present, and future musical journey.
