Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines return to Thrasher
2002 Grammy Award winning songwriter returns to Thrasher.
2002 Grammy Award-winning songwriter, Terri Hendrix, along with 2002 Grammy Award-winning producer, Lloyd Maines, will return to the stage at the historic Thrasher Opera House, in beautiful downtown Green Lake, Friday May 9 & Saturday May 10, 2003 at 7:30 PM.
In celebration of Mother’s Day, Thrasher Opera House has arranged a special Concert/Dinner package with Heidel House. Concertgoers will be able to enjoy a choice of any three-course meal on the menu while dining in the casual elegance of Grey Rock overlooking one of the most breathtaking views of Green Lake. Afterward, Terri Hendrix, acclaimed Texas singer and multi-instrumentalist, will entertain you with her boundless enthusiasm as she plays alongside guitarist and in-demand producer, Lloyd Maines – all for the incredible value price of $38!
Terri's songs are alternately joyous and bittersweet, fashioned out of a diverse mix of styles - folk, country, pop, rock, Tex-Mex, bluegrass, and jazz. Her latest CD The Ring is a collection of songs driven by a survivor’s grace and an optimist’s soul. An album of depth and stylistic diversity, The Ring serves as a culmination to the first six years of Hendrix’s journey as an independent artist. “I’ve been who I am, and I’ve been who I’m not,” Hendrix sings. “Both have led me to find my own point of view.” “Terri plays innovative yet rootsy Texas music with a breezy, joyful ease. The Ring highlights the San Antonio native’s Rickie Lee Jones-meets-Emmylou Harris voice and her catch, literate lyrics are at best”, the Austin Chronicle.
Since 1996 Hendrix has combined musical smarts and business savvy to forge one of the industry’s most impressive independent careers- managing her career and running her own label, Wilory Records. Her consistently engaging albums, captivating live performances, and a dedicated grassroots approach to marketing have all contributed to her success as evidenced by her popular site www.terrihendrix.com and rapidly growing e-mail list - 30,000 strong.
Hendrix’s songs and work ethic have won her the respect of famed multi-instrumentalist and 2002 Grammy Award record producer, Lloyd Maines who has accompanied her in the studio and on stage since 1997. Together, they’ve performed on festival stages across the U.S. and Europe. Among the highlights: headlining a Saturday night at the 2002 Kerrville Folk Festival, and sharing a bill with the Dixie Chicks at the 2002 Cotton Bowl in Texas. For Hendrix, the highlight of that night was watching the Dixie Chicks rip through “Lil’ Jack Slade,” an instrumental from their 2002 Grammy Award Country Album of the Year – Home, which she helped co-write and won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental for.
