Texan Terri Hendix to perform at Thrasher
Accomplished singer-songwriter Terri Hendrix will return to Thrasher Opera House on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. to perform songs from her captivating new CD, "The Ring." Considered one of Texas' most revered performers, Hendrix will be joined by multi-instrumentalist and record producer, Lloyd Maines.
Hendrix possesses a catalog of songs alternately joyous and bittersweet, fashioned out of an eclectic mix of styles: folk, country, pop, rock, Tex-Mex, bluegrass, and jazz. The Billboard, Washington Post, Boston Globe, and New York’s Village Voice have lauded her work. She's also contributed show-stopping sets at the nation's premier folk festivals.
"Terri Hendrix has a fresh enthusiasm and a divine voice”, writes the Chicago Sun Times, "which equals an electric stage presence”. Thanks to consistently engaging albums, energetic live performances, and a dedicated, grassroots approach to marketing, Hendrix has forged one of the industry's most impressive independent careers. On "The Ring," she reflects on her six-year musical journey. From the opening notes of "Goodbye Charlie Brown," the CD affirms Hendrix's celebrated strengths as a writer and performer while serving notice that times have changed. Her ambitious vocals, melodic instincts, and expertly crafted songs are unified as never before, supporting the album's thematic focus and showcasing a voice at once mature and unabashedly honest, confident and courageous.
Music lovers of all ages and genres identify with the independent spirit and
remarkable diversity that Hendrix's music embodies. "There's plenty of heart
and soul," writes the Richmond Times Dispatch, "to go with the outstanding
singing and playing."
