Roger McGuinn Coming to Thrasher!

 Roger McGuinn coming to Thrasher

Roger McGuinn, founder of one of the most influential folk/rock bands of the 1960’s, The Byrds, will be appearing at the historic Thrasher Opera House in beautiful downtown Green Lake, on April 5, 2003 at 7:30 pm., thanks to the generous sponsorship of Heidel House and Two Chez restaurant.

To begin the evening, Thrasher has teamed with Two Chez restaurant (across the street from the Opera House) to create a wonderful Dinner/Concert Package of fine French cuisine only to be followed by the easy listening music and lyrics of the man who brought us such memorable hits as Mr. Bojangles, and Mr. Tambourine Man.

After his many successful years with the Byrds, McGuinn went solo, oftentimes accompanied on albums by such music greats as Bob Dylan or former bandmates Clarence White, David Crosby, and Chris Hillman.  McGuinn continued to tour throughout the years with Dylan, Tom Petty and others, and in 1994 began recording a series of traditional folk songs and uploading them to folkden.com, part of his homepage – www.mcguinn.com.  Since then he has posted a new recording of a traditional folk song every month.  McGuinn’s new 2001 album, Treasures from the Folk Den on Appleseed Recordings, grew out of this practice, and features newly recorded collaborations with many of McGuinn’s musical heroes: Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Odetta and others.

Two Chez delicious dinner choices will begin with a first- course selection of Mushroom Soup garnished with Chili Oil or Arugula, with Orange Segments, Gruyere Cheese, and Truffle Vinaigrette.  Main Entrée choices will be Spring Chicken, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Olives, and Haricot Verts or Seared Halibut, with Wilted Greens, and Ginger Buerre Blanc.  Rhubarb Strudel with Peach Ice Cream and Carmel Sauce will top off this scrumptious dinner, just in time to wander across the street to the Thrasher Opera House – and a trip down memory lane.

The special Concert/Dinner Package is $50 per person.   For those who have already purchased individual concert tickets, but would like to take advantage of this special dinner offer we invite you to call the Thrasher Opera House at 920-294-4279 to make reservations for the special price $30.  Tickets alone are $20, and can be purchased at Thrasher Opera House office, Knowledge Emporium and Green Lake State Bank.

This concert is close to being sold-out due to the large number of people who regularly visit our website www.thrashersoperahouse.com for information on upcoming events, or by McGuinn fans who faithfully check his website for itinerary and tour dates.
