Local students perform in ALADDIN this Saturday

Join Aladdin as he ventures into a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade and even Sinbad the Sailor when the Missoula Children's Theatre and more than 50 local students perform an original musical adaptation, ALADDIN on Saturday, January 23 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the historic Thrasher Opera House in downtown Green Lake.

The local cast will feature colorful characters such as Aladdin and his Mother, the Princess Dory and her father the Sultan, along with his adviser the Grand Vizier. Joining them is the keeper of the Book of Answers Dinazade and her sister Scheherazade, The Mysterious One, some mischievous Genies, a stubborn Donkey and spunky Goat, scheming Cassim and Ali Baba, Sinbad and his Sailors, wise-cracking Palm Trees and fleet footed Camels, A Cave of Wonders, Vagabonds, and even a pack of lost Penguins.

The program is supported in part by grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Green Lake County/Ripon Community Foundation, the Webster Foundation and the Francis and Ruth Oberreich Foundation. Additional sponsorship is provided by the Horicon Bank of Green Lake and the 1st National Bank of Green Lake. A special thanks to the BayView Motel for providing housing for the two directors, Marianne Reininger, piano accompanist for the play, and our wonderful Thrasher volunteers who will be providing home-cooked meals for the non-stop travelling directors.
