A Harmonious Wail bring gypsy swinging, torch singing, death-defying love note this Friday at Thrasher

On Friday, August 22nd at 7:30 p.m. the Madison-based jazz group The Harmonious Wail will be performing at the historic Thrasher Opera House in beautiful downtown Green Lake. The evening will feature The Harmonious Wail's repertoire with their unique sound of smoldering vocals laced between the jazzy mandolin and bass.

Winners of multiple Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) awards including Best Jazz CD, Harmonious Wail has caught numerous listeners by surprise during its more than 20-year history. Drawing from the rich influence of the European gypsy musicians, the Wail bursts through the normal boundaries of their genre with intoxicating vocals as displayed by Maggie-Delaney Ponthoff, the exquisite mandolin playing of Sims Delaney-Potthoff and jazzy rhythms of master bassist, Jeff Weiss.

This performance is sponsored by the Rowley Tool Corporation and supported in part by grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts and the Oshkosh Community Foundation. Tickets are available for $18 and can be purchased at the Thrasher office, Horicon Bank (Green Lake), Pick N' Save, Ripon Drug (Ripon), Twister (Princeton), or by calling (920)-294-4279. Tickets are also available online at www.thrasheroperahouse.com.
