Two great nights with three of the biggest names in Comedy
Returning guest comedian, Bob Zany, is bringing along a few of his pals when he returns to the historic Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake for not one, but two evenings of sidesplitting humor on Friday & Saturday, Sept 6 & 7 at 7:30 p.m. Joining him this year will be Zan Aufderheide and Costaki Economopoulos. Collectively, the three comedians have careers that have included television, movies, radio and more!
Zany has been in showbiz since his national debut in 1977 on TV’s infamous Gong Show at the tender age of 15! Since then he’s appeared on over 1,000 national shows including The Tonight Show, Roseanne, Last Comic Standing, and 17 years on The Jerry Lewis Telethon as performer, co-host and MDA National Vice President. For the past 15 years, this three time American Comedy nominee has been a staple on The Bob and Tom Radio Show, with his take on the news, "The Zany Report.” His movie credits include, playing opposite Matt Damon as his attorney in Steven Soderbergs’ "The Informant.” He was also in "Joe Dirt” with David Spade, and has a starring role along with Eric Roberts in the soon to be released feature, "23 Minutes to Sunrise.” Zany is also a Roast Master Extraordinaire, hosting celebrity roasts for Drew Carey, James Cameron and Ed McMahon, to name a few.
Zan has performed everywhere from churches and road houses to The Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd. and Gotham in NYC; she’s even played the Grand Ole Opry. Her radio segment "A Moment of Zan,” can be heard across America. She’s also done a lot of movies that have gone straight to DVD in Berlin, "This Ain’t Prettyville,” "Fake ID” and a number of other block busters you’ve never heard of, but they are real. She has her own pilot in development now called "Shockingly Geographic” which ties together her love of science and comedy. You can see her on ComedyCentral.com, hear her on The Bob and Tom Radio Show, and find her at ZanComedy.com.
Costaki's humor has been described as smart, pointed, hip, sharp, insightful, socially relevant, and gut-laugh funny. A fellow comic once referred to him as a "casually brilliant joke philosopher.” He weighs in on everything from parenting and politics, to pirates and rice cakes. And his light swagger, playful squint, and wry smile tell you that perhaps there’s more to this multi-layered joke than you first recognized.
You may have seen him recently on the Showtime Special Caroline Rhea & Friends. Over the years, Costaki has performed in 48 states, covering the country’s best clubs, hundreds of beautiful theaters, dozens of colleges, and some of the worst bars in America. Also a talented writer, Costaki's jokes have appeared on The Tonight Show,The Late Late Show, and Best Damn Sports Show Period. He was a writer for BET, where he was staffed on two of their hit shows. He wrote jokes for Bette Midler’s Kiss My Brass Tour. Costaki spent Spring Break one year in Cancun writing on the MTV show Parental Approval. He also wrote daily for The Complete Sheet, a DJ prep service that goes out to almost 500 stations worldwide.
But he is easily best known for The Economonologue, a weekly segment on the syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show that reaches some five million people in 150 markets. And that segment has spun off into Quick Snaps, the all-NFL topical version, which also has a weekly home during the season on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. This national exposure has opened the door to Costaki’s dream: people coming to see his live performances "on purpose.”
An added bonus occurs between their Friday & Saturday shows atThrasher when Zany, Zan & Economopoulos will be honorary guest judges (with pizzazz!) at the Wisconsin State Chili Cook-Off in downtown Green Lake on Saturday, September 7. Activities start at 10:30 a.m. with judging at 3:00 p.m., with sampling by the crowd to follow.
