21st Missoula Children's Theatre audition to be held at Thrasher

The 21st annual Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) open audition is set to begin on Monday, June 17 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the Thrasher Opera House is inviting all area students from Grades 1 through 12 to participate.  This year's production is SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, a musical adaptation of the beloved children's fairytale.

After the two-hour group audition, approximately 50-60 students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Directors. Because of costume limitations, there is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. In addition, 4-6 assistant directors are selected to help teach and direct the show early in the week and take on technical responsibilities at performance time.

A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition at 6 p.m. The first rehearsal for the more complicated roles will begin approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition. Rehearsals will then take place Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Thrasher. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and, if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role, as well as a dress rehearsal on Saturday followed by two performances at 3 p.m. & 7 p.m. Cast members scheduled for a full 4 hours of daily rehearsals will be asked to bring a sack supper or snack.

No advance preparation is necessary for the group audition, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time!

Thanks to many generous supporters of this annual children's event, there is no cost to the student for this invaluable weeklong opportunity.  Special thanks to the Green Lake Bank who recently presented a check to the Thrasher for $1,500 in support of this June's workshop, as well as the Green Lake County/Ripon Area Community Foundation and Rural Mutual Insurance of Green Lake.  In addition, we thank Heather McQuitty, who will be providing housing for the two directors, Marianne Reininger, piano accompanist for the play, and the Thrasher volunteers for generously providing home-cooked meals for the non-stop travelling directors.
