Ladies Must Swing, an 18 piece all-female big band based in Madison, WI., plays swing, Latin, ballads, shuffles, waltzes, polkas, etc., for dancing and listening. Come see them perform the popular, big band music of the 20th century when they make a return visit to the historic Thrasher Opera House in downtown Green Lake on August 24. Previous advertising indicated the concert would begin at 7:30 p.m., however, due to travelling logistics; the start time will be 8:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 7:15 p.m.
June Dalton (sax/clarinet) and Marianne Egerstrand (drummer) founded Ladies Must Swing approximately fifteen years ago as an opportunity for the lady musicians of Madison and surrounding area to play big band, jazz and swing. The two have kept the band busy by performing in Washington DC at the National Race for a Cure, at the Women's Health Gala at the Wisconsin State Capitol as well as festivals, clubs, private parties, conventions, performing arts centers, schools and ballrooms all across the country.
