Michael Kaeshammer, a must-see live act this Saturday at Thrasher.
Don't miss Michael Kaeshammer this weekend at the historic Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake. The Canadian pianist is touring the United States promoting his latest critically acclaimed cd, KAESHAMMER, and makes a stop here on Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m., along with his longtime rhythm section, drummer Mark McLean and bassist Marc Roger.
Kaeshammer's performances are pure delight and his energy knows no bounds. He has piano technique to burn and to his audience's delight has an acrobatic way with a grand piano. When Kaeshammer performs, it's obvious he's having a ball, playing superlative boogie-woogie, blues, jazz, and pop cross-over material, drawn mostly from an impressive list of standards and his catalogue of studio recordings. "The boogie-woogie pianist best known as a must-see live act. - Bernard Perusse, Montreal Gazette.
2010 highlights include a much-acclaimed performance at the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Paralympic games, performing in front of 60,000 people and millions on television internationally, successful summer performances at U.S. and European Jazz festivals, and continued touring in Canada.
The release of his latest recording, KAESHAMMER (2011) is accompanied by this year's international tour to the United States and beyond. One critic summed it up, Ą°In a word: WOW. This boogie-woogie piano prodigy put on a captivating, thrilling show for the standing-room-only crowd that made good on the buzz he generated the night before. His charm was matched only by his outstanding performance, as he ripped through time signatures, key changes, varied dynamics, and even style changes with speed and style. I have a feeling that Kaeshammer will be one of those artists that people will talk about long after this festival ends." - Eric Rezsnyak, Rochester City Newspaper, Rochester Jazz Festival
