Folk icon, Tom Rush performs
Appearing this Friday, May 6 for a 7:30 p.m. at the historic Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake will be legendary folk icon Tom Rush. "If there is such a thing as a folk star, this guy merits the title. Whether performing a heartfelt ballad, singing a down-to-earth blues tune, or weaving an onstage story with strands of humor and wisdom, Rush has been winning audiences over since the 1960s." - Boston Globe
The warm, homey magic spun in the course of a Tom Rush performance has often been likened to a cozy evening spent in front of a living room fire. So pull up a chair and prepare yourself to be captivated by this preeminent singer-songwriter, whose expressive voice, distinctive guitar style, terrific yarn-spinning, and wry sense of humor have defined acoustic music for several generations of fans. Drawing on over four decades spent as a folk troubadour, Tom's performances roam a vast musical territory, from sweet ballads to gritty blues, offering a celebration of where acoustic music has come from and where it's going.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship from the Heidel House, Rush will be performing his signature style of music – the very style that warrants recognition of having impacted the musical careers of many now-famous artists. In addition, this project is supported in part by grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tickets for this wonderful folk icon are only $20 and can be purchased online at thrasheroperahouse.com, at the Thrasher office, Knowledge Emporium, Green Lake Bank (Green Lake); Pick N’ Save, Ripon Drug (Ripon); Twister (Princeton) or by calling (920) 294-4279.
