Rainbow Fish returns to the stage
Opening season is right around the corner and that usually means that dad, mom, or both will be occupied for the weekend. But what about the children? Rather than being stuck indoors for the weekend, why not make plans to bring them to the historic Thrasher Opera House in downtown Green Lake on Saturday, November 20 at 3 p.m. to see the delightful and heartwarming musical, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.
With his lovely coloring and his special shimmering scales, the Rainbow Fish is used to being the most beautiful creature in the ocean. So when the other fish ask him for some silver scales, he refuses. How can he sacrifice the one thing that makes him unique? In ArtsPower’s musical adaptation of the classic tale by Marcus Pfister, the Rainbow Fish comes to understand that making others happy is the best path to happiness.
The Rainbow Fish wonders why none of the other fish want to talk to him. He won’t share his silver scales with them, but he is still magnificent to look at. Isn’t that enough? The wise old octopus, though, has some advice; she tells him to share his gift with those around him in order to make friends at last. This advice takes the Rainbow Fish by surprise at first, but he decides to give it a try when a little blue fish asks for one tiny scale. He is shocked to discover that spreading his splendor to others rather than keeping it all for himself is a wonderful feeling! Even without the only shimmering scales in the ocean, the Rainbow Fish has become truly happy.
ArtsPower has turned a bestselling book into a joyful celebration of unselfish friendship and discovering one’s inner beauty that is sure to delight young and old alike.
