The Second City's 50th Anniversary Show at Thrasher

On Saturday, July 24, Chicago’s legendary comedy theatre, The Second City, will appear at the historic Thrasher Opera House in beautiful downtown Green Lake for a 7:30 p.m. performance.  The evening’s repertoire will include some of the best sketches, songs, and improvisations from The Second City’s fifty year history.  In fact, this show is being billed as “The Second City's 50th Anniversary Show."

Hilarious, spontaneous, topical and insightful – The Second City is the most famous brand in live comedy. Performing a blend of classic scenes from their fifty-year archive, material ripped from the days headlines and their trademark improvisation, a night with The Second City is a laugh filled, once-in-a-lifetime event.

Founded in Chicago in 1959, The Second City has become the premier training ground for the comedy worlds’ best and brightest.  And the Second City Touring Company has been bringing laughter and joy to packed houses all over North America for over forty five years. The Second City alumni list reads like a who’s who of American comedy, as it includes Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Horatio Sanz, Ryan Stiles and countless others.

Not only will an evening with The Second City provide audiences with the chance to see comedy stars in the making, but they will also have the opportunity to see absolutely hilarious satire and cutting-edge improvisation.  No topic or subject matter is off limits for The Second City.  If your parents asked you not to speak about it at the dinner table, chances are it will be made fun of in an evening with The Second City.

The New York Times calls The Second City "A Comedy Empire." In addition to its live stage shows, Second City boasts the largest school of improvisational comedy in the world; a thriving corporate communications division; an exclusive deal with Norwegian Cruise Lines that puts the brand in front of millions of cruise passengers every year; and a television and film division that recently sealed a development deal with NBC/Universal.

Funny and fast-paced, The Second City is ideal entertainment; always topical, highly interactive and sure to have audiences rolling in the aisles.
