MCT's Treasure Island performed this weekend
Follow young Jim Hawkins and his friends as they sail a dangerous sea of adventure with Long John Silver and his pirate band at the helm this Saturday, June 26 at the historic Thrasher Opera House in downtown Green Lake. After only one week of rehearsal, Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) and over 50 local students will present an original musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevensonís epic novel TREASURE ISLAND at a 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The local cast will feature characters such as Jim Hawkins and the rollicking Pirate crew, Jimís six Sisters, his Ruffian friends. The cuddly Gulls and the seacoast Villagers round out the cast, all of whom were assisted throughout the week by the invaluable student Assistant Directors.
This unique opportunity for all local children could not be made possible without the help of some very special supporters who understand the importance of the arts in our childrenís lives. We would like to thank the Green Lake Bank, Wallenfangs of Green Lake, Kiwanis Club of Green Lake, Green Lake County/Ripon Community Foundation and the Webster Foundation.
Last but not least, a special thank you to Heather McQuitty for offering weeklong accommodations for the two tour directors, Marianne Reininger who will be providing the lively and lighthearted piano music that accompanies all Missoula performances, and our generous Thrasher volunteers who will be providing home-cooked meals every night of the week for the road-weary tour directors.
