Local food pantry benefits from George Winston performances at Thrasher
Renowned pianist, George Winston, returns to the historic Thrasher Opera House in beautiful downtown Green Lake, for his very popular Winter Show on Wednesday, December 19 and Thursday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m., both nights. Winston plays over 100 solo piano concerts a year in America and beyond, as deep tributes to the seasons. These concerts feature a variety of styles, including his melodic folk piano, stride piano, R&B piano, Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts pieces and more.
When touring, Winston always encourages audience members throughout the country to donate food to their local food pantries. At his request, the Green Lake County Food Pantry will be available at these two concerts to accept donations of non-perishable foods to help fill their pantry. In addition, a percentage of the merchandising proceeds from the items sold at his concerts will be donated to the organization.
Every month, the Green Lake County Food Pantry provides emergency assistance to hundreds of families and individuals in need, which means that the shelves at the Food Pantry need replenishing on a continual basis. Please join us this holiday season in support of the Green Lake County Food Pantry by dropping off a donation of a non-perishable food item at any one of the many drop off sites available around Green Lake County or by calling the Green Lake County Dept. of Human Services at 920-294-4070. Please give to those in need.
Concert sponsors play a huge part in our ability to bring you the quality of entertainment we do, year after year. The Winston concert is no exception. This year’s concert was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin. Additional generous support was received from Green Lake State Bank, Alliant Energy Foundation, Berlin Wal Mart, Tuscumbia Country Club/ 680 North Restaurant, Midstate Abstract and Title, and Stahl Plumbing.
Tickets for the Winston concerts are only $25 and if not already sold out, are available at Thrasher Office, Knowledge Emporium, Green Lake State Bank, (Green Lake); Ripon Drug, & Pick ‘N Save (Ripon); Twister (Princeton) or by calling 920-294-4279.
