Thrasher unveils Winter/Spring ’06 season…just in time for holidays.
These days our lives seem to be in a constant hustle and bustle mode – not just during the holiday season - but every day. Twenty-four hours in a day just doesn’t seem to be enough! And have you seen the crowds at the shopping malls, despite the rising gas prices? Talk about bustle!
Well, rather than trying to alter the current Gregorian calendar to accommodate those of you who need a little extra shopping time before the big C day – we thought we’d take both the hustle and bustle out of the equation for you by instead offering our new Winter/Spring ’06 calendar line-up of outstanding live entertainment, just in time for your last minute gift-giving needs. This is a compilation of artists so varied you’ll be sure to satisfy even the most discerning recipients on your list….all of which can be done in a matter of minutes - from the comforts of your own home!
The performances offered this upcoming season are as diverse as the ways in which you can purchase them. From children’s programs, comedy and folk legends to Cajun, blues and African folk – Thrasher has something for everyone.
A quick cultural jump-start to the new season is the return of world-renowned traveling theatre troupe, Missoula Children’s Theatre (Pinocchio), from January 16-21, followed by boogie-woogie blues artist, Ann Rabson, on January 28. Singer/songwriter and master guitarist, Willy Porter, will grace the stage on February 11, with Samite, a native Ugandan now living in
Lunasa, the “hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet,” as described by The New York Times, will be appearing on March 11, and a double-header; Kelly Joe Phelps (blues) and Natalia Zukerman (country jazz) follow with a concert on March 25.
Because of tremendous response to the Cajun concert performed here in September, we’re bringing another Cajun band, the renowned BeauSoleil, to
Their baaaack! Always evolving, witty and charming, The Babes welcome in a new era with a new cast, and a new show entitled Hormonal Imbalance…A Mood Swinging Musical Revue! The indestructible Divas are hotter than ever and scheduled to appear on mother’s day weekend – May 11. Here’s a name you probably haven’t heard in awhile; Janis Ian. With nine Grammy nominations and 17 albums to her credit, folk legend Janis Ian continues to write and perform songs that change the landscape and will perform many of those, right here, at Thrasher on May 20. The season culminates with another ever-popular Missoula Children’s Theatre production (Rumpelstiltskin) from June 19-24.
Now for the really easy part….purchasing. With holiday sales being quite common during the season – we thought we would create a few “package deals” of our own. For the month of December only; if you purchase five or more tickets to any of these fabulous performances, we will give you a 15% discount on the total package. The whole season; a 20% discount. These two specials can only be purchased by calling the office at 920-294-4279. A great cost and time-effective way to give! In addition, we will forgo the typical handling fee for any online individual ticket sales for the month (new season tickets only).
And don’t forget about GIFT CERTIFICATES. They’re always a welcomed gift - but did you realize that by giving these certificates, you are giving in more ways than just one? 1. A gift to yourself - because you know you will be making a difference by supporting the arts and putting money back into the local community. 2. A gift to the artist….live performances help support independent artists of all kinds. 3. And of course, the recipient.
So you can see…there are numerous ways to celebrate this coming holiday; to give as well as receive, just by picking up the phone or getting online – and all without even warming up the car! We hope you’ll consider letting Thrasher be part of that spirit of the season.
By the way, did I mention we had ten sell-out performances in 2005? Better not think twice…...
