Guy Davis to Bring True Blues to Thrasher Opera House
World renowned ‘renaissance bluesman’ Guy Davis will be lighting up the stage at Thrasher Opera House on Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 PM. The show is bound to be unforgettable and is an evening not to miss.
The San Francisco Chronicle calls Guy Davis, “One of a handful of young blues singers keeping the acoustic tradition vital…Davis’ timeless vocals blow through your brain like a Mississippi dust devil.” This musician/composer/actor/writer is above all a bluesman, and captivates audiences with his one man band, playing six and twelve string guitars, banjo, the blues harp, the washboard, and even the didgeridoo. With a voice compared to Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, and a guitar style reflective of Robert Johnson’s, Guy Davis has paved his own road in becoming a legendary blues artist.
Davis has performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, David Dye’s radio show, ‘World Café,’ the Winnepeg Folk Festival in front of 15,000 people, and countless rave-review receiving concerts across the country. Winner of the “Blues Album of the Year” award in 1998, “Davis is blues, great blues, the best blues,” exclaims the Denver Advocate.
Guy Davis is not only a bluesman, but is a living legend, and is a performer that Thrasher Opera House is thrilled to welcome. Don’t miss the show on Saturday, April 23, at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at Thrasher Opera House office, Knowledge Emporium, Green Lake State Bank, Pick ‘N Save, Ripon Drug and Twister (Princeton).
