Bryan and Lola is a captivating group formed by two best friends that became husband and wife. This couple has found a new way to approach old-school soul. Lola’s powerful voice intertwines with the sweet edginess of Bryan’s, leaving audiences mesmerized. Their songwriting features Bryan on guitar and Lola’s jazz-influenced piano. The result has been described as ‘John Mayer meets Norah Jones.’
Lola Toben is a singer, pianist, and composer born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. Despite her petite frame and humble demeanor, Lola is always shocking audiences with her big soulful voice. She has taken her original music across the country, performing at notable venues such as The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles and Blueberry Hill in St. Louis. She was a Top Ten Finalist in the 2015 Wildflower! Songwriting Competition in Richardson, Texas. She was chosen as "Artist of the Week” in Coming Up Magazine in May 2017.
When off the stage, Lola works as a studio musician: session singing, arranging, coaching and playing keyboard. In her hometown of Saint Louis, she was a respected singer and songwriter at Nelly’s Extreme Institute and Shock City Studios. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2017, she has worked with notable producer Jez Colin (Barry Manilow, *NSync, Stevie Wonder), singing on the trailer for major motion picture, Kong: Skull Island. Lola has also recorded her own EP with Grammy-nominated producers, Alex Elena and Topher Mohr. Her first single, "Way to Your Heart,” was featured on KX 93.5 Laguna Beach Radio and LA On Lock Music Blog.
Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Bryan Toben was born in Saint Louis, Missouri to an extremely musical family. His first experience with music was the piano, shortly followed by the drums and guitar. By the time he was a junior in high school, Bryan was performing publicly around town at local cafes and restaurants accompanied by classmate, Lola Hennicke. He received his Associates Degree in 2010 from St. Louis Community College. Seeking to experience more of the world, Bryan used the following semester to take a self-directed mission trip to La Paz, Bolivia. During his three-month stay, he tutored children in mathematics and guitar while volunteering at an orphanage for underprivileged children. Once Bryan returned home to St. Louis, he had a clear vision of his goals. He continued his education, graduating with honors from Webster University in 2013 with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a certificate in Entrepreneurial Business. Bryan currently manages and performs in Bryan & Lola and teaches drum and guitar lessons.
