Missoula Children's Theatre: Auditions for PRINCESS AND THE PEA

Auditions for Missoula Children's Theatre production of PRINCESS AND THE PEA will be held on Monday, January 18, from 4PM to 6PM at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake.  There are roles for students in grades K-12.  Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/ Directors.  During the audition, 4-6 Assistant Directors are also selected to help teach and direct the show early in the week and take on technical responsibilities at performance time. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.  Students wishing to audition should arrive by the scheduled starting time and plan to stay for the entire two-hour session.  The first rehearsal begins approximately 30 minutes after the auditions. There is no cost to the student to participate.

It is a group audition - no advance preparation is necessary.  The Tour Directors will go through a series of exercises with the children to help them to determine things like; how well the child takes direction and behaves (after all, only two directors will be working with up to 55 children - for an entire week – so they need cooperation), focus, how loud they can project their voices, enthusiasm, etc.  Share these things with your child and they will have a better chance (but not a promise) at being chosen for a part.  Of course, a SMILE never hurts.  They should be ready to come and have a good time!

Rehearsals will then be conducted every day from 4PM to 6PM and 6:30PM to 8:30PM, Tuesday through Friday at the Thrasher Opera House.  Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role.  A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the auditions on Monday.  Cast members scheduled for the full 4 ½ hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack supper or snack.

The performances will be held on Saturday, January 23, at 3PM and 7PM and will be presented at Thrasher Opera House.  The students in the cast will be called for rehearsal before the performance that day.  All those cast must be available for BOTH scheduled performances.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre International Tour Project is the largest touring children’s theatre program in the U.S. Each production comes complete with professionally designed scenery, costumes, props and makeup, as well as sound and lighting equipment.  This season, Missoula Children’s Theatre will send out 35 teams to over 1,000 communities from Montana to Japan to Green Lake!
